Super Sleuth Introduction
Students put their spy skills to the test in a variety of experiments designed to hone their memory as well as sight, sound, smell, and touch senses.
Kindergarten-Science
Investigation and Experimentation
(4.a, 4.b, 4.c, 4.d, 4.e)
1st
Oobleck
The properties of liquids and solids are discussed before creating a “goo” that simultaneously exhibits qualities of both.
Grade 1-Science
Physical Sciences
(1.a, 1.b)
Ice Cream Baggies
Students understand how ice freezes liquid in this “yummy for your tummy” experiment.
Grade 1-Science
Physical Sciences
(1.a, 1.b)
2nd
Stomp Rockets
3-2-1-Blast Off!!! Students learn about the forces that cause motion as they launch air propelled rockets.
Grade 2-Science
Physical Sciences
(1.a, 1.b, 1.c, 1.d,)
Fractal Fun
(second & third grade math)
Students learn how nature uses fractions to create fractal patterns then create their own pop-up fractal greeting card.
Grade 2-Math
Number Sense
(4.0, 4.1, 4.2)
Grade 3-Math
Number Sense
(3.0, 3.1, 3.2)
3rd
Oobleck
The properties of liquids and solids are discussed before creating a “goo” that simultaneously exhibits qualities of both.
Grade 3-Science
Physical Sciences
(1.e, 1.g)
Pop Rockets
Students learn the fundamentals of a chemical reaction when we create a gas by mixing an acid and a base to launch a mini rocket high into the air.
Grade 3-Science
Physical Sciences
(1. e, 1.g)
Periscopes
Students create periscopes to peer over fences and learn how light reflects off mirrors.
Grade 3-Science
Physical Sciences
(2.b, 2.d)
4th
Explosive Volcanoes
Students learn about the different types of volcanic eruptions and the forces that cause them before creating one that erupts 3-4 ft in the air!
Grade 4-Science
Earth Sciences
(4.a, 5.a)
Pickle Power
Students learn the basics of creating a circuit then sound a buzzer using a pickle, a pencil and aluminum foil.
Grade 4-Science
Physical Sciences
(1.a, 1.g)
5th
Turbulence in a Bottle
(Part 1 of 3)
Students see the invisible properties of turbulence when we mix hand soap, water and coloring in a bottle. Students learn about forces that can affect weather and air patterns.
Grade 5-Science
Earth Sciences
(4.a, 4.b, 4.c, 4.e)
Egg in a Bottle
(Part 2 of 3)
Students gasp as we apply principals of air pressure to “suck” an egg into a bottle. This dramatic effect of heating and cooling air is discussed at length and correlated with weather patterns.
Grade 5-Science
Earth Sciences
(4.a, 4.b, 4.c, 4.e)
Upside Down Water
(Part 3 of 3)
Students won’t believe their eyes as we use principles of air pressure to make water hover upside down in a glass.
Grade 5-Science
Earth Sciences
(4.e)
Slime
Students mix glue, water and detergent to create a fun and slimy chemical reaction.
