Love our affiliates? Wait till you meet our staff!

Camp Directors: You know that big yellow sun on our logo? That’s them. They are that big ball of energy that makes camp go everyday. Read their bios below and you’ll instantly feel the quality of character, spirit, and professionalism they radiate!

Instructors: All our Instructors are credentialed teachers or college graduates with a contagious enthusiasm for learning. Now there’s something you won’t mind your kids catching!

Counselors: Counselors are the kind of high school and college folks you want your child to look up to…and not just because they’re taller. These artists, athletes, honor students and thespians spend the entire week with your kids so they actually know your child’s name, favorite hobby, and why they want to be an entomologist when they grow up.

CIT’s: Counselors-in-training are junior high or early high school students that are looking to build their leadership and child development skills…and rockets, slime and pickle batteries with our campers.

In order to provide the safest and most attentive service possible, we maintain an 8:1 ratio between campers and staff members.

ALAMEDA — Brian Hernandez
After 11 summers working at a camp in Yosemite, Brian has found a new summer home at Camp Edventure More. Edmo's emphasis on a fun, engaging curriculum, plus wacky, fun games made this camp stand out from the others and no-brainer to return for a second year of summer fun. Brian is a graduate of U.C. Santa Cruz, majoring in Environmental Studies, and is currently studying to be a Speech Pathologist at CSU East Bay. He enjoys honing his communication skills with kids and grown ups, developing his leadership skills and all the while singing camp songs, cheers and helping kids make really stuff like slime!

"Being an Edmo Camp Director last year gave me chance to see how fun a summer enrichment program can be. I met so many wonderful campers and parents from the Alameda site last year, that I had to come back for another summer! Working with Edmo gives me the best of both worlds--I get to have a life-long impact on children, while being a part of an incredible organization. See you this summer!"

SAN ANSELMO — Sara Statler
Sara Statler graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Environmental Studies and Theater. Sara involvement in the theater community, peer mentoring groups and environmental leadership programs have propelled her passion for entertaining education. Besides working as a school year science presenter for Edventure More, Sara has also taught after school science enrichment classes in Santa Rosa elementary schools and led youth wilderness expeditions in Montana and Wyoming! She has witnessed first-hand the magic science and experiential learning can have in a child’s life. SAN FRANCISCO — Staci Umhey
A Venice Beach native, Staci studied Business Management at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Although this is her first year joining the Edventure More family as the Corte Madera Camp Director, she is no stranger to camp. After working as a counselor for two years at a camp in her home town, she was promoted to director last summer. Camp has been the perfect arena to combine her love of kids with the business skills she gained in college. In her spare time she volunteers at a tutoring center for the children of North Beach Place Housing Development, plays on a tennis and softball team, and is training for her first marathon!

“I am counting down the days to summer because I am so excited about what my awesome staff and I have to offer the campers. I am elated that I can share my passion for cultivating people’s lives and that I can wake up each morning and go to work doing what I love to do. I know this summer will be fantastic and monumental in your child’s life.”

SAN FRANCISCO — Melanie Mitchell
Melanie Mitchell returns for her second year as Camp Director of the San Francisco Edventure More location. Melanie (a.k.a. “Skittles”) graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in Modern Dance and Choreography with a concentration in technology and education. During her time at ASU Melanie worked closely with Dr. Mila Parrish, a nationally recognized dance educator and professor, developing curricula and resources for the future of dance education. This experience, along with Melanie's Montessori-infused love of learning, has fueled her passion for teaching the arts and developing integrated arts curriculum for classroom teachers. Her enthusiasm for summer enrichment programs has rejuvenated and challenged her as she has directed at iD Tech Camps for two years and now Edmo for two years! Melanie promises to bring her certified madcap camp expertise and very serious dedication to education to each and every camper this year.

"I am thrilled to be directing Camp Edmo at Presidio Hill School again with all the returning and new Edmo campers! I feel so blessed to do what I love. I hope that the excitement and glow that I have at camp inspires kids to find the same kinds of things in their lives. That’s why we create an environment at camp that promotes new friendships, new ideas and new confidence levels in every camper. Let's have an awesome summer!"
